Excellent for the Average Homeowner:
Some of the previous reviewers have been a little harsh on this unit. This is an excellent shop vac for the average homeowner. If you're a hardcore woodworker, then you may need a larger vac, one that can pick up 20 pounds of sawdust ... or 40 gallons of water. This vac won't do that. But it you're an average homeowner who is trying to remodel a bathroom or kitchen (to save money!) in between running your kids to soccer practice, finish the laundry, cut the grass, and go shopping for the week ...... more info

I use the Dewalt dc500 for servicing computer systems. It is versatile and compact enough for the job.
Works OK but not great.:
Seems well built, I love having the battery and pug in option. The vacuum is very handy, but really lacks in power and effectiveness. I think I would either try the new smaller unit for battery use or buy a better portable plug in unit.
it does "suck":
As small and quiet as this unit is it really can clean. I use it mostly for my truck and its great, becasue you can bring it into the truck with you and put it on the seat, being that the vac is so small. The battery freature is great if you have no plugs, but you need to have two or more fully charged batteries with you to do a large car/truck. I do wish it came with a small tube extension, but otherwise it is typical Dewalt quality and you cannot beat some of their tools!
