1. Grizzly G8070 Baby Anvil Grizzly G8070 Baby Anvil
from Grizzly
Price: $6.95

Customer Review:
This item was much smaller then the picture implies. It is smaller the a deck of cards sitting on a shot glass. It is barely useful, even for jewelry making. If you laid fingers on top of the hammering service you would fit a little more then two fingers worth of surface.

3. Northern Industrial Cast Iron Anvil - 15-Lb. Northern Industrial Cast Iron Anvil - 15-Lb.
from Northern Industrial Tools
Price: $16.14

Customer Review:
Wow it doesn't take much to be an anvil, but this thing falls short in just about every direction except heavy. It's painted with a nice hammered finish.. why would you paint an anvil? Oh now I see to hide all the rust underneath. It looks nothing like the picture. Nothing is flat or smooth or round... more info

4. Grizzly G8147 55 lb. Anvil Grizzly G8147 55 lb. Anvil
from Grizzly
Price: $59.95

Customer Review:
I am not picking on Grizzly tools in particular as there are other tool merchants that count on customer inexperience to sell low quality merchandise. This anvil, probably made in China, is CAST IRON. It is soft and will mark and dent easily if you actually hit it with anything. A good anvil is made... more info

6. NEW Jewelers Chrome Plated Anvil NEW Jewelers Chrome Plated Anvil
from Sona

Customer Review:
I was surprised at how small and compact this anvil is, but it works great. I usually only flatten wire for small pieces of jewelry therefore I am not trying to do heavy work on this guy. Someone wanting to really shape metal will want something bigger.

8. WOLF-Garten Anvil Pruner #7227007 WOLF-Garten Anvil Pruner #7227007
from Wolf-Garten
Price: $18.99

Customer Review:
I've been using this pruner for several months and have been very pleased with it. Best features are the sturdy locking mechanism and the handle appears to be sturdy as well. I have had problems with other brands, like Corona, where the handle fatigues over time and pinches my hand.

from Fiskars
Price: $22.44

Customer Review:
I was satisfied with this pruner, it did everything it was supposed to, but I used it a lot and the return spring broke. It isn't easy to open this thing by hand after each cut and before the next one, so I am no longer satisfied. I paid the 30 bucks for it before the latest price reduction and as... more info

Price: $36.95

Customer Review:
I had to replace an old Craftsman Anvil Pruner which is out of manufacture and no others were available from Sears. This pruner is a bit smaller but takes on the same jobs of the old heavier one that wore out. I cut allot of palm trees and this goes thru the dried out branches with no problem. Also... more info

We have a thorn bush that needed trimming. In the past we have tried using hedge clippers and getting stuck by the 1 inch long thorns. from Fiskars
Price: $7.75

Customer Review:
I found that the shears bend and twist if you attempt to cut a branch at an angle under 50 degree instead of a straight 90 degree to the branch. of course this is not a problem with very small branches, best for flower stems etc

from Gilmour
Price: $5.18

Customer Review:
I was disappointed. This pruning scissor cut through only very thin branches well, but dulled in days and became hard to use. Uncomfortable handles, too. Not what I would call a heavy-duty tool.

These pruners work very well. Because they are anvil pruners, small branches do not get stuck between the blades. The size, shape and weight are perfect for my arthritic hands.

Customer Review:
Not quite as sharp as Fiskars, but much more durable. Ratcheting function makes it easy even for ladies to use on thick branches.
I use it in a landscaping service after using Fiskars for years, this is my favorite pruner now. The con is it's weight when carried on the belt (only compared to... more info
